OVERVIEW
In Wine Country’s City of Napa; home to world-famous vineyards, wineries, and gourmet dining, and close to the intersection of Atlas Peak Road and CA-121 (Monticello Road), resides Jessel Gallery. This gallery is known for a variety of paintings and artwork by local artists and eclectic fashion; offered ina relaxed and laid back environment, and welcoming pets and their people throughout the full gallery, as well as the outside “bring your own food” patio area. If you are looking for an artistic pet-friendly activity in Wine Country, you can do the CANGO at Jessel Gallery.
HOW PET-FRIENDLY IS IT?
The surrounding area is very rural and fortunately not very polluted or congested. However, it is located near a highly trafficked area including a major thoroughfare (Atlas Peak Road) and highway (CA-121 Monticello Road), so you would want to closely monitor pets.
The gallery and patio are areas are both quiet. You definitely feel like a full-fledged guest when visiting the gallery with a well-behaved pet because you both can enjoy the full interior gallery as well as the entire patio area without restriction. You and your pet can take a self-guided and self-paced tour of the artwork and clothing available.
The patio does not have outdoor heaters or lighting, other than decorative holiday lighting. They do have two water bowls by the front door. The gallery does not provide a special pet menu since they have a “bring your own” policy to dining on the front patio. They do not offer any kind of special treat or waste bags for your pet. Jessel Gallery does not have any special considerations or rules for pet visitors (but of course you would not want your pet to “mark” the art, so a mild-mannered pet that does not tag indoors is a given).
IS IT CONVENIENT OR A PAIN IN THE —?
Parking is very easy with free parking available in the gallery’s own private lot on site. The surrounding area is not pedestrian-friendly as there really is not a sidewalk to walk around the block, per se. Although the gallery, patio area, and parking lot are all very safe and comfortable to walk around on-lead, I would not describe the surrounding area as safe nor comfortable to walk around with a pet due to the lack of sidewalks and proximity to a major thoroughfare (CA-121 near the Silverado Trail).
It is easy to dispose of waste, with a trash can on the front porch. The closest pet-friendly activity is probably Shurtleff Park located at 1238 Shetler Ave in Napa, about 5 miles away or approximately a 12-minute drive.
The closest 24/7 emergency vet is Solano-Napa Pet Emergency Clinic located at 4437 Central Place in Fairfield. This clinic is 17 miles away or nearly a 30-minute drive. Another closer option that is only open Monday through Saturday is Silverado Veterinary Hospital which is just over 1 mile away or a 3-minute drive.
