AMICI’S PIZZERIA: Dog-friendly Restaurants San Francisco Bay Area

OVERVIEW

In the Peninsula’s Redwood City, where Hollywood (Dreamworks) and technology (EA) meet and nationally recognized for its great climate, resides Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria. Located in the city’s western end in the waterfront community of Redwood shores, Amici’s offers an opportunity to feast on some Italian cuisine in their casual patio area on a warm day. If you are looking for pet-friendly eats in Silicon Valley, you can do the CANGO at Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria.

IS THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT/SERVICE WORTH A VISIT?

I have tried and can recommend:

FLAME ROASTED LEMON CHICKEN WINGS marinated in our special blend of spices and roasted in our brick ovens. (choice of mild, spicy or atomic) $7.75 (5) / $14.75 (10) / $26.75 (20) / $55.75 (50)

If you like hot wings, and who doesn’t, you will love these. They were very tender and tasty.

KALE & QUINOA SALAD with cherry tomatoes, red onions, toasted pine nuts, ricotta salata. served with balsamic shallot vinaigrette. full $11.75 / family $19.75

I loved that there were a number of healthy salads not just mixed green or Caesars. The combination of kale and quinoa brings together two Bay Area health crazes- worth noting for health nuts who may think that a pizza place might not have something for them.

WILD BABY ARUGULA SALAD with Treviso, applewood smoked bacon, scarlet royal grapes, goat cheese, pine nuts. served with red wine vinaigrette. full $12.75 / family $19.75

This salad is the perfect complement to pizza, in my opinion. I love pine nuts and the red wine vinaigrette suggests nuances of red wine like Chianti to my palette. I also like that it had goat cheese so you do not get bogged down with too much parmesan or mozzarella.

LINGUINE WITH PESTO small $13.75 / large $17.75 / family $31.75

I LOVE pesto. I love to make it and I love to eat it. So of course, I had to try theirs. Amici’s pesto was very tasty: not too oily with a strong enough flavor to make an impression but not too much as to be overwhelming so you cannot enjoy anything else paired with it.

KALE & SAUSAGE (pizza) kale, hot Italian sausage, slow-roasted garlic, parmesan, pine nuts, Meyer lemon olive oil. $13.75 / $19.75 / $28.75 / $35.75

This pizza combo was very yummy. I only know of one other pizza place that offers this combo but Amici’s has more ingredients, producing a more complex, layered experience.

J.M. ROSEN TUXEDO CAKE $7.50

HOW PET-FRIENDLY IS IT?

In terms of the restaurant’s surroundings, Redwood Shores is a safe area. There are multiple waste stations in the shopping center. It is also safe to walk with your dog, although not super scenic in the paved area (it is by the shores but I did not see a direct pathway connecting the areas).

The staff was very friendly to Lovie and I felt welcomed as a pet owner. There is an overhang that shelters patio patrons from rain and provides shade. Yet overall, the restaurant could invest more in the physical comfort of pet patrons: There are no outdoor heaters or lighting, so your best option would be to go during the day when it is fairly clear and warm.

They do not provide complimentary treats for your dog or offer a pet menu or even a pet-safe item to order. However, they did bring out water for Lovie without a prompt.

IS IT CONVENIENT OR A PAIN IN THE —?

Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria is located in Redwood Shores shopping center with plenty of free parking. It is accessible by multiple major freeways (880) and highways (101, 92)

The closest 24/7 emergency vet is SAGE Veterinary Centers located at 934 Charter St in Redwood City. This center is just over 4 miles away or about a 10-minute drive.
