OVERVIEW
In Wine Country’s Sonoma County home to world-famous vineyards and wineries, in the city of Rohnert Park, resides Robert’s Lake Dog Park. This park is known for its designated off-leash area adjacent to a small lake. If you’re looking for a pet-friendly activity in the outskirts of Wine Country, you can do the CANGO at Robert’s Lake Dog Park.
HOW PET-FRIENDLY IS IT?
We visited this park because it was listed as a popular park in the Sonoma County area. People did seem to have control of their dogs and you could actually enter without getting accosted at the gate. The people in the large dog area were a little cliquey but the one other person in the small area was very friendly. We attempted to walk around the lake. We stopped halfway because there was no apparent way around the full lake. I feel obligated to divulge that the pathway by the lake was covered in goose droppings and the far left and far right of the path had bookend homeless squatters. Overall, I would describe the park as okay if you are in the area and perhaps want to make a pit stop off 101 to give your dog a break, but not worth a special trip.
IS IT CONVENIENT OR A PAIN IN THE —?
Parking was kind of tricky but free with street parking at the edge of the park being the only apparent option. From the street you can see the lake, pathway, and designated dog areas since the park’s layout is basically a “U” with everything located and visible from the edge/ street.
In the official dog park areas, it obviously is easy to dispose of waste, with trash cans and doody bag dispensers in each area.
The closest 24/7 emergency vet is VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County located just under 2 miles away at 6470 Redwood Drive in Rohnert Park or roughly a 10-minute drive. *[Please note: We provide the veterinary locations as a reference and resource, not a referral or endorsement].
