San Francisco is a very dog-friendly city. I am always amazed how many people I see walking dogs around high-rises in the SOMA (South of Market) area by the ball park given the proximity to downtown. According to KQED and the American Community Survey in 2016 there was an estimated five to twenty thousand more dogs than kids in San Francisco. So it is no surprise that there are a number of well-used official dog parks and dog-friendly areas.

Since we live in the East Bay and have to cross bridges to frequent these parks, we stick to the high stakes parks. Our favorites include THE BEACH! What kind of Californians would we be if we didn’t openly express our bias for the beach. No bikinis, just a lot of happy dogs frolicking on the shores as the waves break at their sandy paws. You can watch and read our video reviews for Crissy Field, Marina Green, and Fort Funston. More to come so stay tuned!
